Belair P&C Office Bearers

  • What they do

    • Provide overall leadership for the P&C and help set priorities for the year

    • Chair meetings and ensure discussions are productive and respectful

    • Act as the main point of contact between the P&C and the school leadership

    • Support committee members and help keep things moving when decisions are needed

    • The attainment of the P&C Association’s objectives

    • Ensuring that the P&C Association takes part in decision-making processes in the school

    • Fostering fair participation of all members and ensuring that all new members are made to feel welcome

    • Supporting volunteers

    • Consistent adherence to the constitution

    • Acting as the P&C Association’s spokesperson when public statements or actions are needed

    • Setting up lines of communication with the Principal

    • Being a signatory on the Association’s bank accounts

    Good to know

    • You don’t need to do everything; this role is about coordination and leadership, not doing all the work yourself

    • You’ll be supported by a committee and shared decision-making

    • Workload fluctuates across the year, but can be fairly intense

    Time commitment

    • Attend at least two P&C meetings per term (including the AGM)

  • What they do

    • Support the President and step in when they’re unavailable, for example chairing meetings as needed

    • Represent the P&C at functions

    • Help share the leadership load and provide continuity

    Good to know

    • There are usually two VPs. Having two Vice-Presidents allows flexibility and shared responsibility

    • This is a great way to contribute at a leadership level without carrying the full load

    • Roles can be shaped around your interests and availability. In the past we have seen one person take on Events, and another take on the Canteen for example.

    • You won’t be opening the shop alone; this role coordinates volunteers

    • This is the one role that has predictable time commitments - open the shop for an hour once a week. It can be on a day that suits you, preferably in the morning before school.
